Today, we have been introduced how to make pattern pieces from the standard fitted bodice block.
The first half of the day, we had a presentation about different types of corsets, history of corsets to contemporary corsets that are being used by designers now days.
I was not really keen on corsets but I've realized we can make so many interesting construction or design out of this garment as the base.
Some images that was shown during the presentation:
Tipping the Velvet poster (television drama by BBC) |
One of my favourite images of corset: Iron corset |
The famous, Mr Pearl, known for his 18 inch waist and of course, the corsets. |
Actress Polaire |
Jane Seymour |
Getting started to construct the pattern pieces! |
In the process... |
Finished pattern and traced off patterns
It was not a easy task to make the pattern pieces but we all know we learn from mistakes! :)
Anyway, it was all about accuracy and preciseness. If you are confident with those attributes, then you are good to go. |
