Paper corset making

Paper corset making day! Today, we mainly focused on how to construct a corset with paper before making with an actual fabric just to comprehend how the construction, cutting etc works.
It was all about having fun, enjoying the process which was very interesting approach.
I have a feeling that I might used a corset for my further project :))

My first paper corset:) I have reduced 1cm for each waist line which is a brave thing to do haha
I just wanted to have fun with it while I have time to "enjoy" the process. Going through only the safe path won't lead to anything! :)

2nd corset pattern - manipulating the lines-whichever I wanted to look.

Result!

Intro To Contour Block: Corset

Today, we have been introduced how to make pattern pieces from the standard fitted bodice block.
The first half of the day, we had a presentation about different types of corsets, history of corsets to contemporary corsets that are being used by designers now days.
I was not really keen on corsets but I've realized we can make so many interesting construction or design out of this garment as the base.

Some images that was shown during the presentation:

One of my favourite images of corset: Iron corset

The famous, Mr Pearl, known for his 18 inch waist and of course, the corsets.

In the process...

Finished pattern and traced off patterns

It was not a easy task to make the pattern pieces but we all know we learn from mistakes! :)
Anyway, it was all about accuracy and preciseness. If you are confident with those attributes, then you are good to go.
