Starting My Trousers Pattern

No doubt, I had few mistakes with my finished illustrator after checking with my tutor.
The amount of time that is spent for this particular module is crazy! :S But what can I do... at least I have improved my illustrator skills abruptly after spending my whole day yesterday using it- that is one great achievement! :))

After fixing my mistakes, I have turned to start my second module - making my own trousers in real scale out of calico. Since for this particular work, the design is not graded so I did not spend a lot of time ruminating on the design itself (skills, accuracy and technical aspects are graded).
Having to choose a Galife trousers for my final trousers, I have manipulated on my own way staying away from the standard Galife trousers - added some pleats, pockets etc.
After quick decision, I have started to construct pattern!
At this stage, the sooner, the BETTER! :D

Illustrator Day

Since I have finished manipulating my version of different kinds of trousers, it's time to scan everything and redraw it On Illustrator. Not difficult, but takes a great amount of time...

Thanks to the self-directed day, I decided to stay home today and fully concentrate on Illustrator.
Long way to go! But I guess I will be the God of Illustrator once I am done :D.

Assessment: The White Shirt Project - Technicalities

Yesterday I have received my assessment from previous project - The White Shirt - which was quite unexpected. The assessment was based on 'Technicalities' which basically means they grade you on technical aspects (Assessment on 'Design' will be handed in during mid-Feb).
It came out that I have received 72! I have improved! YEAY! :D 72 is categorized as 'Excellent Work, (First Class, equivalent at L5&L6)".

I should be proud of myself, shouldn't I? Well, there are more higher mountain to reach so I guess I need to work even harder to be preeminent ;).

Intro To Contour Block: Corset

Today, we have been introduced how to make pattern pieces from the standard fitted bodice block.
The first half of the day, we had a presentation about different types of corsets, history of corsets to contemporary corsets that are being used by designers now days.
I was not really keen on corsets but I've realized we can make so many interesting construction or design out of this garment as the base.

Some images that was shown during the presentation:

Tipping the Velvet poster (television drama by BBC)

One of my favourite images of corset: Iron corset

The famous, Mr Pearl, known for his 18 inch waist and of course, the corsets.

Actress Polaire

Jane Seymour

Getting started to construct the pattern pieces!

In the process...

Finished pattern and traced off patterns

It was not a easy task to make the pattern pieces but we all know we learn from mistakes! :)
Anyway, it was all about accuracy and preciseness. If you are confident with those attributes, then you are good to go.

The White Shirt Project : Voice of The Virago (Final Presentation)

So I realized it is very difficult to update my blog daily...:/ Especially when the deadline is several weeks ahead of me.
Anyway I will present my final works -- The white shirt project: Voice of the virago -- design for Alexander McQueen.

Here
We
Go! :D

Concept Board

These 3 photos are the most successful outcomes picked from the photo-shoot.
I personally like the first one due to the fact that it conveys my concept about this project very well; powerful strong feeling.

Fashion Illustration.

And finally, this will be my technical specification sheet! Took hours to draw that shirt via illustrator but worth it! :D
